About

Youth Empowerment For Self Reliance (YEFOSR) is a dynamic, Refugees youth-led community-based organization (CBO) that was established out of a deep commitment to tackling the systemic challenges faced by rural poor communities and marginalized youth in the West Nile Region of Uganda. This region, known for hosting a significant number of refugees, particularly from South Sudan, grapples with numerous socio-economic challenges. YEFOSR aims to bridge gaps in education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for these vulnerable populations. The organization focuses on empowering young people by providing them with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to become agents of change within their communities. Through various programs and initiatives, YEFOSR addresses critical issues such as access to quality education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship development. These programs are designed to equip youth with practical skills that enhance their employability and self-reliance, ultimately contributing to the overall development of their communities. Moreover, YEFOSR places a strong emphasis on advocacy and community mobilization. The organization works to raise awareness about the rights and needs of refugees and marginalized youth, fostering a sense of solidarity and collective action among community members. By engaging with local leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders, YEFOSR strives to influence policies and practices that affect the lives of refugees and marginalized groups in the West Nile Region. In addition to its focus on education and advocacy, YEFOSR also addresses health and well-being. YEFOSR implements programs aimed at improving access to healthcare services, promoting mental health awareness, and addressing issues such as gender-based violence and reproductive health. These efforts are crucial in ensuring that young people and their communities can lead healthy, productive lives.
